Working with Data Filters

Narrow an analysis to the records you care about using text, numeric and date conditions.

Filters limit an analysis to records that meet one or more conditions. They do not change the stored dataset.

Available conditions

ConditionBehavior
equals / does not equalExact match. Text comparisons ignore capitalization; numbers and dates are compared as values.
containsText includes the entered characters (case-insensitive).
is greater than / is less thanStrict comparison. For dates, "greater" means later.
is at least / is at mostComparison that includes the entered value.
is betweenInclusive range — both limits are included.
is empty / is not emptySelects records with or without a value in the column.

Combining filters

When you add several filters, a record must meet all of them (logical AND). For example, region equals North and revenue is at least 100 keeps only northern records with revenue of 100 or more.

Tips

  • Enter dates as YYYY-MM-DD.
  • Records with empty or invalid values in a filtered column are excluded by comparison conditions.
  • The number of records remaining after filtering is shown above the results. If it is very small, statistics may not be meaningful.
